Reliance Retail Launches Shein India Fast Fashion App

Mumbai, India – Reliance Retail, owned by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has launched the Shein India Fast Fashion app on February 1, marking Shein’s return to India almost five years after its app was banned due to diplomatic tensions. The launch, which was not officially announced, represents a departure from Reliance’s strategy of integrating brands into its flagship fashion app Ajio.

The Shein India Fast Fashion app offers a vast selection of low-priced clothes, with deliveries initially limited to cities like New Delhi and Mumbai, and plans for nationwide expansion soon. The app features dresses priced as low as ₹350 (S$5.50).

Under the licensing deal, all Shein-branded products sold through the app are designed and manufactured in India. Reliance will pay a licensing fee for using Shein’s brand name, with no equity investment involved. The partnership aims to boost India’s textile manufacturing sector while maintaining strict data sovereignty.
