Zoe Saldaña Responds to Karla Sofía Gascón’s Controversial Tweets

Zoe Saldaña has addressed the recent controversy surrounding her Emilia Pérez co-star Karla Sofía Gascón, following the revelation of offensive tweets by Gascón. During a Q&A session in London on Friday, Saldaña expressed her sadness and disappointment over the situation, noting that she does not support or tolerate any form of negative rhetoric.

“I’m still processing everything that has transpired in the last couple of days, and I’m sad,” Saldaña shared. “It makes me really sad because I don’t support [it], and I don’t have any tolerance for any negative rhetoric towards people of any group.”

The actress continued, emphasizing that her experience on set with the film was one of inclusivity, collaboration, and equity in all forms, including racial, cultural, and gender.

Saldaña also expressed her hope that the controversy wouldn’t overshadow the powerful message of the film, which aims to support marginalized communities. “All of us that came together to tell this story, we came together for love and for respect and curiosity,” she said. “We will continue to spread that message.”

The actress concluded by thanking those who continue to support the film, despite the recent setback.
