Elon Musk Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and a minister in the administration led by current U.S. President Donald Trump, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his significant contributions to the promotion of freedom of speech. The Nobel Committee has confirmed this information and has already sent an email to Musk.

Slovenian politician and member of the European Parliament, Branko Grims, shared this information on Thursday through a post on the social media platform X. In his post, Grims also attached the email from the Nobel Committee.

In the post, Grims stated, “Freedom of speech is a fundamental human right, and Elon Musk has long been working to expand and safeguard this right. His team had submitted a petition to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, which has approved it and decided to nominate Musk for the 2025 Peace Prize.”

Elon Musk, the owner of electric car company Tesla and aerospace manufacturer SpaceX, is also the owner of the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. He acquired Twitter in 2023.

In December, Grims mentioned at an event in Brussels that Musk deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to expand and protect freedom of speech. He stated, “I will propose to the Nobel Committee that Musk should win the Peace Prize next year.”

Within a month of this statement, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has nominated Musk.

It is worth noting that the Nobel Prize is awarded annually in five fields—Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature, and Peace—for exceptional contributions. The Peace Prize is awarded by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, while the other prizes are awarded by the Swedish Royal Academy.
