Donald Trump Wants to Withdraw US Troops from Syria

US President Donald Trump wants to withdraw American troops from war-torn Syria, according to Israeli media. Currently, around 2,000 US troops are deployed in Syrian territory.

On Wednesday (January 29), the news agency Anadolu reported this information.

According to the report, Israeli media claimed on Tuesday that President Trump wants to withdraw thousands of American troops from Syria.

Israel’s state-owned public broadcaster KAN stated, “Senior White House officials have sent a message to their Israeli counterparts, indicating that President Trump wants to withdraw thousands of American troops from Syria.”

It further added, “The withdrawal of American forces from Syria would create significant concerns for Tel Aviv.”

According to an announcement by the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) last December, approximately 2,000 American troops are stationed in Syria.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, visited the occupied Mount Hermon in Syria on Tuesday. Following the occupation of this region last month, he emphasized Israel’s intention to maintain a military presence there indefinitely.

Katz stated, “We will not allow enemy forces to enter the security zone from southern Syria, from here to the Suwayda-Damascus axis. We will take action against any threats.”

Earlier, in December, taking advantage of various incidents leading to the weakening of Bashar al-Assad’s government, Israel expanded its control over the Golan Heights by occupying the civilian areas of Mount Hermon in Syria.

Additionally, on December 8 last year, Israeli forces launched extensive airstrikes across Syria. The attacks targeted military installations, destroyed weapons, and damaged infrastructure.

The international community condemned these attacks, stating that they violated Syria’s sovereignty.
