Exciting Update for Daisy Ridley’s Star Wars Movie

Daisy Ridley’s much-anticipated Star Wars movie, New Jedi Order, has received an exciting update, with a new writer joining the project. George Nolfi, known for his work on The Bourne Ultimatum and Ocean’s 12, has been hired to pen the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker (2019), New Jedi Order will follow Ridley’s Rey Skywalker as she trains a new generation of Jedi. The film, which was first announced in 2023, marks the beginning of a new chapter in the Star Wars saga.

Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, known for her documentary work, New Jedi Order will be her first narrative feature film. The movie has seen several changes behind the scenes, with multiple writers previously attached to the script before Nolfi took over. Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were initially set to write the film, followed by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, who exited the project in October 2024.

Script delays have caused production setbacks, and it now appears that the next Star Wars film to begin production will be the untitled project from Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy. Reports also recently revealed that Ryan Gosling is in talks to star in the film, with Jonathan Tropper writing the script.

In 2023, Ridley teased fans about Rey’s upcoming story, sharing, “I’m very excited. The story is really cool. I’m waiting to read a script because, obviously, I don’t have any other updates. It’s not what I expected, but I’m very excited. So far, I know the story of one film, and I think people will be very excited.”
