Colombia Did Not Allow The Migrant Plane To Land, Trump-Petro Warned Against Tariffs

The Colombian government has blocked the landing of two military planes carrying illegal immigrants from the United States. And US President Donald Trump is very upset about it. He said he would impose a 25 percent tariff on goods coming from Colombia. Prohibitions will also be issued. If this is done, the President of the South American country of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, has warned of retaliatory tariffs on US products.

Trump announced that a 25 percent tariff on “all goods” coming from Colombia to the US market would take effect “immediately”. His administration will raise this duty to 50 percent within a week.

In an immediate response, Colombian President Gustavo Petro said he too would impose a 25 percent tariff on US goods.

Such opposite positions of Trump and Petro were seen yesterday on Sunday. Yesterday, he prevented two military planes carrying illegal immigrants from the United States from landing in Colombia.

Gustavo Petro said, “Our citizens can be accepted rather than being sent to civilian aircraft without identifying the criminals.”

US officials told BBC partner CBS News in the United States that two military planes flying from San Diego to illegal immigrants were expected to land in Colombia yesterday. But due to the complexity, it was later canceled.

Donald Trump was sworn in as US President on January 26. He then became a sword on illegal immigrants in the United States. Trump has announced that illegal immigrants will be excluded by an executive order.

With such direction of Trump, there is widespread arrest on illegal immigrants across the United States. After the catch of them, the process of sending the military aircraft has begun to send them back to their homeland. Such news and pictures have been published in the media.

However, Trump responded immediately on Sunday over the fact that Colombia had not given to the immigrant military aircraft. In a post in his Truth Sosle, Trump announced ‘urgent and decisionful revenge’.

The US president added that his administration will impose a travel ban on Colombia. The visa of Colombian government officials and allies and supporters of the country’s government will be ‘immediately canceled’.

“These steps are just the beginning,” Trump added. His administration will not allow the Colombian government to violate their legal obligations on the acceptance and return of the criminals in the United States. ”

Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced the imposition of counter -tariff in the X post while responding immediately to Trump’s announcement. To Trump, he said, ‘The imposition of your tariffs is not afraid of me. Because Colombia is a country of beauty as well as the heart of the world. ‘

At the same time, Gustavo Petro proposed the use of his presidential aircraft to ensure that the people of Colombia were ‘honored’ from the United States.

Gustavo Petro said yesterday that more than 15,666 Americans are illegally staying in Colombia. However, this number could not be independently verified by the BBC. Colombia’s president said he would never order an operation like the Trump administration’s to expel illegal Americans from his country.

Colombia supplies 20 percent of coffee imported to the US market. Its market value is about 200 million dollars. Apart from this, the United States imports various products including bananas, crude oil, avocados, flowers from Colombia. Now due to the imposition of tariffs, the price of these products will increase in the US market.
