Gunfights in Three Locations in Pakistan Leave 30 dead

In Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 30 people were killed in a gunfight with the country’s security forces. Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) provided this information on Saturday, January 25.

According to a statement by the military, security forces engaged in gunfights with terrorists during three separate counter-terrorism operations. At least 30 people were killed in these encounters. The statement noted that 18 militants were killed and six injured in one operation. In another operation in the Karak district, based on intelligence reports, security forces exchanged fire with terrorists, resulting in the death of eight militants.

In the third operation, security forces killed four militants in the Bagh area of Khyber district. Among them was ring leader Aziz-ur-Rehman, also known as Qari Ismail. Two other militants were injured during the operation.

The military has stated that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants. These individuals have been accused of being involved in numerous terrorist activities targeting security forces and innocent civilians in the region.

It is noteworthy that in 2024, the Pakistan Army conducted a record 59,775 intelligence-based operations, during which 925 terrorists were killed, marking the highest number in five years.
