Trump’s Third term? Republican Congressman Proposed to Amend the Constitution

The 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution states that a person can serve a maximum of two terms as President.

A Republican Congressman has proposed changing the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution to allow Donald Trump to serve another term as President of the United States.

The joint resolution was introduced Thursday by Andy Oglez, elected to the House of Representatives from Tennessee, the BBC reported.

According to his proposal, the President of the United States can serve a total of three terms, but only two consecutive terms.

The 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution states that a person can serve a maximum of two terms as President.
This amendment was introduced in 1947 to ensure that no one else could serve four terms like President Franklin Roosevelt, and was adopted in 1951.

Roosevelt was the only person to be elected president of the United States more than twice. He died in 1945, less than a month and a half after being sworn in for a fourth term.

Ogalz did not hide the proposal to change the amendment on Thursday, which was given to Donald Trump to serve as president.

“This amendment will give President Trump the opportunity to fulfill his third term, ensuring the continuation of the brave leadership for our country,” he said.
However, if his proposal will be adopted, two-thirds of the US Congress members will need support, and the approval of the state will be approval.

Although Trump’s Republicans have got the majority in the two rooms of the Congress, they do not have members to change the constitution. Even the Republican MPs will not be confirmed that the proposal will be in favor of the proposal.
