In mid-February, the chiefs of border guarding forces of India and Bangladesh are going to meet in New Delhi. This meeting is going to be held at the high level of the two border guard forces for the first time after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government. It is known that the Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui will visit India from 16 to 19 February for discussions with the Chief of Border Security Force (BSF) Daljit Singh Chowdhury.
Before the BGB chief’s visit, Bangladesh Energy and Power Advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan is also expected to visit India to participate in the India Energy Week 2025 on February 10-12.
At this time, energy connectivity and cooperation can be discussed with Indian mediators. This will be the first high-level visit by Bangladesh since the formation of the interim government last August. According to the sources concerned, the implementation of Single Row Fence (SRF) on the border is among the important issues that will be discussed in the upcoming meeting of BSF and BGB chiefs. India wants to complete the barbed wire fenced border area as soon as possible.
