ISI Chief Lt Gen Asim Malik’s Visit to Bangladesh Raises Security Concerns for India

Dhaka, Bangladesh – In a move that has raised significant security concerns for India, ISI Chief Lt Gen Asim Malik has embarked on a visit to Dhaka, marking the first time in decades that a head of Pakistan’s intelligence agency has traveled to Bangladesh. The visit, aimed at fostering intelligence-sharing between Pakistan and Bangladesh, is viewed by many as an effort to facilitate cross-border subversive activities in India1.

Malik’s trip has sparked fresh security challenges along India’s eastern and northeastern borders. The visit is officially aimed at creating an intelligence-sharing network between the two countries, but intelligence sources suggest it could lead to increased subversive activities in India2.

The visit comes at a time when relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan have seen a recent thaw, with both countries expressing a desire to strengthen their defense ties. This development has set alarm bells ringing in New Delhi, as it could potentially destabilize the region2.

As the visit continues, the international community will be closely watching the implications of this new intelligence partnership and its impact on regional security dynamics.
