Protest Rally Against Yunus in Geneva

In Geneva, peace-loving expatriates organized a protest rally and human chain against the deteriorating law and order situation in Bangladesh, brutal persecution of minority communities, and the repressive policies of the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The Switzerland branch of the Awami League arranged the human chain program on January 20, 2025, at 3 PM local time.

Additionally, expatriates protested at Zurich Airport against the arrival of Dr. Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government.

During the event, expatriates carried protest placards against Yunus’ government policies.

The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual summit is being held in Davos, Switzerland, from January 20 to 24, 2025. This prestigious summit will be attended by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government.

It has been reported that the Awami League’s affiliate organization plans to submit a memorandum to the UN Secretary-General, the head of the UN Human Rights Council, and the Nobel Committee, demanding the revocation of Dr. Yunus’s Nobel Peace Prize.

Jamadar Nazrul, president of the Switzerland branch of the Awami League, has confirmed the protest, demonstration, and memorandum submission programs.

Over 100 heads of state and government from around the world are expected to attend this summit, along with CEOs and chairpersons of a thousand partner companies. Leaders of G7 and G20 nations, as well as heads of international organizations, will also be present. Additionally, representatives from civil society, labor and media organizations, top think tanks, and academics will participate.

In addition to the main conference, many government leaders, representatives from various companies, and international organizations often hold sideline meetings during the Davos summit.

It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Dr. Yunus’s government since August 5, 2024, inhumane persecution has been carried out against Awami League leaders and activists as well as minority communities. Entrepreneurs, intellectuals, and the media have been suppressed, extrajudicial killings under the guise of mob justice have occurred, industries have been shut down, and incidents of looting have taken place. Jamaat-e-Islami is reportedly providing strategic advice to Yunus’s government, while BNP activists are allegedly engaging in robbery and theft at the grassroots level.
