Medvedev Paid A Huge Fine For Breaking The Camera By Throwing A Racket

The sad memories of this year’s Australian Open may haunt Daniil Medvedev for a long time. Along with the lackluster performance, his behavior has also been questioned. This Russian star has been severely punished for his unsportsmanlike behavior on the court. After playing two matches, he behaved badly in both. He received a prize of two hundred thousand dollars for reaching the second round of the current event at Melbourne Park. The three-time runner-up, including last time, received the rest after paying the fine.

He committed the first crime in the first round of the tournament. Fifth seed Medvedev sweated to win against world number 418 Kesidit Samrei. In the five-set match with the Thai opponent, he lost his temper and broke a camera by throwing the racket. He lost in five sets against 19-year-old Lerner Tien of the United States. The 28-year-old threw the racket in frustration in the middle of the match and was unable to attend the post-match press conference.

He was fined one point for this incident.

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open singles champion, made a first-round exit at the 2023 French Open. Then this time he quickly departed from a Grand Slam.
