Another Racism Controversy Over Barcelona’s Draw

Opponent Getafe, the position in the points table is downgraded. Barcelona lost points in La Liga last night against such a team. Barca, who were guests at the Stadio Colosseum in Getafe, took the lead in the ninth minute through Jules Kounde but could not hold it. Hansi Flick’s team could not score any more goals after Mauro Arambari repaid it in the 34th minute.

Barcelona lost four consecutive points in the league with the match that ended 1-1 against Getafe. Since the second week of December, Flick’s team has lagged far behind in the points table with two defeats and two draws in the league. However, the racism debate has also been added to Barcelona’s frustrating night in the field of Getafe. The referee stopped play for a while in the second half due to racist behavior from the gallery. After the match, Barca defender Alejandro Balde said that he was racially attacked from Getafe’s gallery.

In an interview with Movistar, Balde said, “I have been racially attacked several times by the audience here. It’s very sad that something like this has happened. I told the referee about it in the first half. He enforced league protocol in the second half. But I don’t know exactly how it works. ’.

According to La Liga’s protocols, a referee can stop a match to stop a racist attack. After Balde’s complaint last night, referee Pablo González Fuertes stopped play in the second half and the sound box of the stadium gave the reason that the players would leave the field if the racist behavior continued.

Barcelona coach Flick has strongly condemned the racist attack on Bald. “Racism has no place in football or in everyday life,” he said at the post-match press conference. Those people should be at home, not on the football field. We have to fight them. ’

Last night there was another incident of racism in Spanish football. Second division side Elche said one of their players had been subjected to racist attacks at Sporting Gijon ground. Local police have identified a man in connection with the incident.

There have been several incidents of racism in La Liga in the last few years. In which Real Madrid Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior has been constantly attacked. In June last year, three Valencia spectators were sentenced to eight months in prison for racially attacking Vinny, the first in Spain for racism on a football field.
