Arakan Army Detained Four Ships Carrying Goods Of Bangladeshi Traders,

Myanmar’s rebel group Arakan Army (AA) has detained 4 cargo ships from Yangon, Myanmar bound for Teknaf land port in Cox’s Bazar for three days. The ships have goods of Bangladeshi traders worth approximately Tk 40 crore.

According to the latest information, the cargo ships have not left the Arakan Army until Saturday (January 18), General Secretary of Teknaf Landport C&F Association Ehetashamul Haque Bahadur said. Earlier, the Arakan Army seized a total of four cargo ships, including two in the first round on Thursday afternoon and two on Friday. The vessels were intercepted at the Myanmar border beyond the Teknaf jetty, traders said.

General Secretary of C&F Agents Association Ehetashamul Haque Bahadur said that a total of 4 cargo ships, including two last Thursday and two on Friday, left Yangon in Myanmar for Teknaf land port in Cox’s Bazar when the Arakan Army stopped them at the Myanmar border beyond Teknaf jetty. It has been three days since then, and still the cargo ships have not left the four Arakan Army. I have informed law enforcement about the arrest of the ships by the Arakan Army. The four ships have goods worth Tk 30 to Tk 40 crore. In this regard, the general manager of United Land Port Limited, the managing company of Teknaf land port. Jasim Uddin Chowdhury said that Arakan Army has detained the ship carrying goods of Bangladeshi businessmen leaving from Myanmar for Teknaf land port for three days. So far the detained ships have not left.

In this regard, Teknaf Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Sheikh Ehsan Uddin said that the seizure of cargo ships bound for Teknaf land port by the Arakan Army has been reported to the higher authorities.
