British PM Pledges ‘100 Years Of Friendship’ During Ukraine Visit

The British government said Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would sign a “100-year partnership” deal in Kyiv.

Keir Starmer is on his first visit to Ukraine as UK prime minister. He is visiting Ukraine to discuss security issues and “promise 100 years of friendship” with Ukraine.

Starmer arrived in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Thursday morning. He was received by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The two leaders then laid wreaths in memory of the victims of the war in Ukraine. Starmer told reporters present that the UK “will never reduce the support it needs to Ukraine”. ’
Starmer wants to put Ukraine in the strongest position in 2025.

During his visit to the United States, which comes before President-elect Donald Trump takes office, the British prime minister pledged to help guarantee Ukraine’s security for a century.

Keir Starmer, leader of the UK’s Labour Party, was elected as the new prime minister in July last year. Before this trip to Ukraine, he made another visit to Kyiv. At the time, Starmer was the leader of the United Kingdom’s opposition.

Since becoming prime minister, Keir Starmer has met twice with Ukrainian President Zelensky in London.

Amid Starmer’s surprise visit on Thursday, there was a terrible explosion in Kyiv; Air raid sirens sounded and loud explosions were heard.

In addition to Starmer’s visit, Italy’s defense chief is also in Ukraine. Two days earlier, Germany’s defense minister visited Ukraine.

This strong diplomatic activity is going on before Trump took power in the United States. There are fears that US aid to Ukraine could stop if Trump comes to power. Trump has also indicated that he wants Europeans to bear more of the burden of helping Ukraine.
