9 Sociedad Fans Injured In Attack By Lazio Supporters

Clashes between fans of the two sides have occurred once again in the Europa League this season. 9 fans of Real Sociedad were injured in an attack by Lazio supporters before the match in Rome. One of them is in critical condition.

Around 80 Lazio fans attacked around 70 supporters of Spanish club Sociedad near the Colosseum on Wednesday night, a Rome police spokesman said.

Out of the 9 injured, 6 were taken to hospital and 4 were discharged overnight. Police said one of the two still in hospital is in critical condition.

Police said the attackers used blunt knives and objects. They released a picture of the weapons used in the attack. Which includes a hammer, stick, a chain.

As soon as the police arrived at the scene, the attackers fled, said the police spokesperson.

Lazio said in a statement that it condemned “all forms of violence” and that strict measures would be taken if the investigation found evidence of the involvement of any supporters.

Lazio will face Sociedad at home on Thursday at 2 pm Bangladesh time.

Roma supporters attacked Athletic Bilbao supporters in Rome at the start of the season in Europe’s second-best competition. In September, clashes broke out between supporters of Sociedad and Anderlecht.
