The Voice News: At least nine people have been killed in a school shooting in the southern Austrian city of Graz.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, as reported by BBC and news agency Reuters, citing police and the city’s mayor.
Police believe the gunman took his own life after carrying out the massacre.
Speaking to a local news outlet, Graz Mayor Elke Kahr said many of the injured have been taken to hospital. She described the incident as a “horrific tragedy.”
According to local newspaper Kronen Zeitung, at least ten people were seriously injured. Many of the victims are believed to be students, though the exact number has not yet been confirmed.
The body of a suspected attacker was found in a school bathroom, the newspaper reported.
Austria is one of Europe’s most heavily armed civilian populations, with nearly 30 firearms per 100 residents.
