5 Dead in Turkish Military Helicopter Crash

Five military personnel were killed in a collision between two military helicopters in southwestern Turkey. The collision occurred mid-air on Monday (December 9). One helicopter was completely destroyed, while the other managed to land safely, according to British news agency Reuters.

Citing private television channel NTV, Governor Abdullah Erin stated that the UH-1 model helicopter crashed during a training flight. One person was critically injured and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

The accident took place in the southwestern province of Isparta during a routine training flight, the governor reported.

Among the deceased is a brigadier general, who was in charge of the aviation school in the region.

The immediate cause of the collision between the two helicopters remains unknown. Governor Erin mentioned that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.
