Dewan Shahnewaz Chowdhury Prince, organising secretary of the Sunamganj Sadar Upazila unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, has allegedly been subjected to severe physical torture while in police custody following his arrest around midnight.
According to a claim circulating on social media, Prince was in sound physical condition when police arrested him for the third time, allegedly without any case against him.
He was subsequently taken to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital after his physical condition reportedly deteriorated in police custody.
As his condition worsened, he was being transferred to Sylhet for further medical treatment, according to the same account.
