Netanyahu Claims Clear Majority, Calls for Right-Wing Government in Israel

- October 30, 2026, 02:33 AM ET

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that his political bloc secured a “clear majority” in the parliamentary election, calling for the swift formation of a national right-wing government.

Speaking to supporters in Jerusalem on Wednesday, October 28, Netanyahu said his Likud party had emerged as the largest party and that no rival could match its strength.

“First, our party, Likud, has emerged as the largest party, and there is no one who can compete with us,” he said, adding that the right-wing bloc had secured a “definite and clear majority.”

Emphasising the need for national unity to protect Israel, Netanyahu said the country needed a strong national right-wing government.

He also warned against forming a government dependent on Arab parties, claiming that those parties opposed Israel’s very existence.

During his speech, Netanyahu sharply criticised Israeli television channels, accusing them of broadcasting inaccurate exit polls that favoured opposition parties and attempting to discourage his supporters from voting.

His remarks came amid uncertainty over the election outcome and the balance of power between his right-wing bloc and the opposition.
