Seven people, including four members of the same family and a 5-year-old child, were killed when a passenger bus collided head-on with a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw on a bypass road in Mymensingh on Friday.
The crash occurred around 1:15 p.m. in the Purba Gondropa area in front of Bangladesh Bank on the Akua Bypass Road.
The impact mangled the auto-rickshaw, killing its driver and all six passengers at the scene.
Four of the victims belonged to the same family. They were identified as Mofazzal Hossain Lebu of Dari Hamidpur village in the Nandina area of Jamalpur Sadar, his mother Rashida Begum, his daughter Morjina and Morjina’s 5-year-old son Minal.

Police and fire service officials said the auto-rickshaw was traveling from the opposite direction when it collided head-on with a passenger bus operated by Rajib Paribahan.
The force of the collision completely crushed the auto-rickshaw.
Mymensingh Fire Service Station Officer Md. Julhas Uddin said the auto-rickshaw driver and all of its passengers died at the scene.
Police and firefighters rushed to the area after receiving reports of the crash and began recovering the victims.
Mymensingh Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Abdullah Al Mamun said officers from the Sadar Circle and Kotwali Model Police Station, including the station’s officer-in-charge, went to the scene after receiving information about the accident.
Police completed the recovery operation with assistance from the Fire Service, he said.
Police seized both the Rajib Paribahan bus and the wrecked auto-rickshaw following the crash.
