WEST BANK — Neria Leter, the son of Israel’s ambassador to the United States, was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while serving as an Israeli army reservist in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, Israeli media reported.
The incident took place along Route 443, where Leter was reportedly carrying out duty with a police officer.
Leter is the son of Yechiel Leiter, Israel’s ambassador to Washington. His father said in a post on X that doctors were fighting to save his son’s life and that his survival would require a miracle.
Israeli media outlet The Times of Israel reported that Neria Leter sustained serious injuries in the incident.
The Palestinian driver who allegedly struck Leter was shot and killed, according to the reports.
Leter is not the first member of the ambassador’s family to be involved in the conflict. His elder son, Major Moshe Yadid, was killed in November 2023 while serving in the Gaza Strip, alongside three other Israeli soldiers.
The incident comes amid continuing violence and heightened tensions in the occupied West Bank.
