CHENNAI, Aug. 2: Jason Sanjay, the son of South Indian superstar and politician Thalapathy Vijay, has revealed that he would love to see his father share the screen with Hollywood action star Jason Statham in a future film.
Speaking in an interview with Behindwoods TV ahead of the release of his directorial debut Sigma, Jason was asked which Tamil actor he would pair with Statham if the Hollywood star ever worked with him.
“Definitely my father (Vijay). It would be a great collaboration,” Jason replied with a smile, before joking that his answer would likely spark a flood of memes and jokes on social media.
Jason also explained why he chose to pursue directing instead of following his father’s path into acting. He said that growing up on film sets made him more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it.
He revealed that filmmaking was not always his first career choice. “At first, I wanted to become a pilot. Later, I dreamed of being a cricketer. During my higher secondary years, I developed a strong interest in cinema. After studying filmmaking in Canada, I realized this is where I truly belong,” he said.
Jason added that he had enjoyed creating fictional stories and writing them down since childhood, which inspired him to become a filmmaker rather than an actor.
His debut Tamil film Sigma, starring Sundeep Kishan in the lead role, has generated considerable anticipation among moviegoers.
