2,500 Rebels Killed in Syria

The number of rebels killed in joint operations in Syria over the past week has risen to 2,500. Syrian television published a report on this regards.

The Syrian TV channel stated that Syrian and Russian warplanes jointly attacked rebel positions in the northeastern region of Homs.

The Syrian news agency SANA reported that the Takfiri rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham launched large-scale attacks last month in Syria’s Aleppo and Idlib provinces, capturing several areas.

Since then, with the support of Russian forces, Syrian government forces have been engaged in intense clashes to reclaim the rebel-occupied territories.

Background of the Conflict

Since March 2011, Syria has been plagued by activities of foreign-backed rebel groups. The Syrian government alleges that Western countries and their regional allies are supporting these rebel groups and spreading sabotage in the Arab nation.
