Khawaja Asif Compares Gaza Crisis to Karbala, Urges Muslim Nations to End Silence

SIALKOT, July 6, 2025 — Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has drawn a powerful parallel between the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the historic tragedy of Karbala, calling on the Muslim world to break its silence and take decisive action
Speaking to media in Sialkot, Asif reflected on the spiritual significance of Karbala, where the family of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made the ultimate sacrifice for justice and dignity. He lamented that Gaza now mirrors that same isolation and suffering, stating, “Today, there is another Karbala unfolding in Gaza. Over 70,000 Muslim men and children have been martyred, but the Islamic world remains silent. None of the 58 Muslim countries are protesting.”
His remarks come amid continued Israeli airstrikes that reportedly killed another 78 Palestinians in the past 24 hours. Asif emphasized the moral responsibility of Muslim nations to stand against oppression, declaring, “Someone must put an end to the tragedy being inflicted upon the Muslims of Gaza.”
The statement has sparked renewed calls for solidarity across the Islamic world, as Gaza remains under siege and ceasefire negotiations resume in Qatar.
