Another journalist, Mohammad Al-Talmas, has been killed in the ongoing Gaza conflict. He succumbed to his injuries on Monday (January 13) after being critically wounded. Al-Talmas was injured in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City, according to Al Jazeera.
Gaza’s Government Media Office has strongly condemned the attacks and killings of journalists. Since October 7, 2023, a total of 204 journalists have been killed in various attacks across Gaza.
Al-Talmas was a journalist for the Safa News Agency and reportedly died during an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City.
In a statement posted on Telegram, it was urged that the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists, and media organizations worldwide demand justice for such attacks and killings of Palestinian journalists and media workers in Gaza.
Meanwhile, progress has been made in ceasefire discussions in Gaza. After a meeting with Qatar’s Emir, a Hamas delegation stated that negotiations for a ceasefire were proceeding positively. However, despite these talks, the occupying forces have continued their attacks in Gaza.
Medical sources reported that at least 70 Palestinians have been killed since early Monday (January 13), including 12 on Tuesday (January 14). The Israeli forces have now completed 100 days of their siege on northern Gaza.
On October 7, 2023, the Palestinian resistance group Hamas launched a surprise attack by crossing the Israeli border. This was followed by retaliatory attacks by Israel on Gaza.
For over a year, the Israeli forces have been carrying out widespread destruction in Gaza. So far, at least 46,584 Palestinians have been killed, and another 109,731 injured. Innocent Palestinians continue to lose their lives daily due to Israeli attacks.
