The United States Embassy in Dhaka has issued a new warning for foreign nationals planning to travel to the US, cautioning against the misuse of taxpayer-funded public benefits.

In a statement published on its verified Facebook page on Saturday, the embassy said that foreign visitors who abuse public welfare programs or become dependent on them could face strict legal consequences, including visa cancellation.

According to the notice, non-immigrant visa holders found misusing such benefits may lose their visa privileges and could also become ineligible for future US visas.

The embassy emphasized that travelers must ensure they are financially prepared to cover their own expenses during their stay in the United States and should not rely on government-funded assistance.
The warning comes as part of broader efforts by US authorities to strengthen immigration compliance and ensure that public resources are used appropriately.
