Washington, June 17, 2026 — US Vice President JD Vance has said that Iran could enjoy significant benefits under its agreement with the United States, but only if Tehran complies with key conditions and changes its behavior.

In an interview with Fox News, Vance said the requirements of the deal were straightforward. According to him, Iran must not possess nuclear weapons, must ensure that the strategically important Strait of Hormuz remains open to international shipping, and must demonstrate responsible conduct in regional affairs.

“If Iran behaves appropriately, it can receive a variety of benefits,” Vance said, outlining Washington’s expectations under the agreement.

The vice president also stressed that Iran would need to stop financing terrorism and cease support for efforts related to rebuilding or advancing nuclear weapons programs. He warned that failure to meet these conditions would leave Tehran without any of the advantages offered under the deal.

“If they do not do these things, they will get nothing,” he said.

Vance further argued that the agreement ultimately serves American interests regardless of the outcome, stating that the United States stands to benefit either through Iranian compliance or through maintaining pressure if Tehran refuses to cooperate.

The remarks come amid ongoing international attention surrounding the recent US-Iran agreement, which has been presented by both sides as a step toward reducing regional tensions and ensuring stability in the Middle East.

According to reports, the agreement is linked to broader efforts aimed at easing conflicts across the region, including in Lebanon, while also addressing concerns over Iran’s nuclear activities and maritime security in the Gulf.
