Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General and Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that his party is committed to establishing a tolerant and democratic political culture in Bangladesh, where all political parties can freely carry out their activities and express their views.
Speaking as the chief guest at a public reception held at Kumarpur High School grounds in the newly established Bhulli Upazila of Thakurgaon on Wednesday afternoon, Mirza Fakhrul emphasized the importance of ensuring equal political space for all parties.
“We want every political party to have the opportunity to conduct its activities, present its opinions, and reach out to the people,” he said. “Ultimately, it is the people who will choose their true representatives through the ballot box.”
The BNP secretary general stressed that no government or political force can remain in power through repression and persecution. According to him, public support remains the greatest strength of any political party.
“Power cannot be sustained through oppression and intimidation. The support of the people is the most powerful asset for any political organization,” he said.
Mirza Fakhrul’s remarks came as he reiterated BNP’s commitment to democratic values, political tolerance, and the right of all parties to participate freely in the country’s political process.
