Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated US President Donald Trump for what he described as “extraordinary efforts” to establish peace in the Middle East amid ongoing diplomatic attempts to end the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States.
According to Israeli media outlet The Times of Israel, Sharif made the remarks in a statement posted on social media platform X on Saturday following a series of high-level regional discussions led by Trump.
The Pakistani premier said Trump held “very constructive and productive” telephone conversations with regional leaders, focusing on the current security situation and ways to advance ongoing peace initiatives aimed at restoring lasting stability in the region.
Sharif added that Pakistan would continue its peace efforts “with complete sincerity” and expressed hope that another round of negotiations could be arranged soon.
The remarks came as reports suggested progress in negotiations between the United States and Iran, including discussions over Tehran’s nuclear programme and broader regional de-escalation efforts. The diplomatic momentum has also fueled speculation about a possible easing of tensions around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
Recent developments have triggered mixed reactions internationally, with some Israeli officials reportedly voicing concern over a potential agreement between Washington and Tehran, while several regional actors have welcomed renewed diplomatic engagement.
The latest diplomatic push follows days of heightened tensions and intense international attention surrounding the Iran-Israel crisis and Washington’s mediation efforts.
