A human chain and protest program under the banner “Justice for Ramisa” was held at Shahbagh in Dhaka at 3:00 PM today, where members of Bangladesh’s conscious civil society gathered to condemn the rising incidents of child rape, sexual violence, and murder across the country.

The protest was sparked by the tragic rape and death of 8-year-old Ramisa, a case that has shocked and devastated people nationwide. Protesters expressed anger and grief over what they described as a continuing failure to ensure the safety of children and women.

Holding placards demanding justice and stricter punishment for perpetrators, demonstrators called on the government and law enforcement agencies to take immediate and effective action against those responsible for sexual violence. Speakers at the program said Bangladesh is becoming increasingly traumatized by repeated incidents of child abuse, rape, and murder.

The protesters also demanded speedy trials, stronger legal enforcement, and greater social awareness to prevent such crimes from continuing. Many participants warned that public frustration is growing as similar incidents continue to occur one after another across the country.

The “Justice for Ramisa” protest ended with a renewed call for accountability and nationwide resistance against violence targeting children and women.
