Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described Iran’s recent attack on the United Arab Emirates as “unacceptable” and pledged India’s support to Abu Dhabi during a brief visit to the Gulf nation on Friday.

During a meeting with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, Modi emphasized the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz “free, open and secure” amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

Modi made the remarks while stopping in the UAE en route to a four-nation European tour. He arrived from New Delhi on Friday afternoon and remained in the Emirates for less than three hours.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of more than two months of conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, which has heightened instability across the region and raised concerns over global energy security and maritime trade routes.

According to Indian media reports, Modi reiterated India’s full support for efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the Middle East. He also praised the UAE leadership for showing “courage and wisdom” during the crisis and thanked the Emirati government for taking care of the Indian community living in the country “like family members.”

Highlighting the global impact of the conflict, Modi said India continues to support dialogue and diplomacy as the only path toward resolving the crisis.

The two leaders also reviewed progress in the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE, including cooperation in trade, energy, connectivity, and regional security.
Notably, Modi’s visit to the UAE came just a day after he held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
