A human chain was held yesterday at 4:00 pm in front of Dhanmondi 27 in Dhaka, demanding punishment for Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and the former health adviser over the ongoing vaccine crisis in Bangladesh.

The protest was joined by professors from University of Dhaka, lawyers, journalists, and members of civil society. Speakers at the programme strongly criticised what they described as negligence in bringing essential vaccines into the country, claiming that children are dying every day due to the shortage.

Several prominent speakers addressed the gathering and said the situation was unacceptable. They alleged that the previous interim government, including its chief adviser and health adviser, should be held responsible for the failure to ensure vaccine supply.

The protesters further claimed that the delay in importing vaccines was part of a conspiracy, and described the deaths of children caused by the shortage as “nothing less than child killing.” They urged the current government to take legal action against those responsible and ensure an uninterrupted supply of vaccines across the country.
