Dhaka, April 27, 2026 — Security has been significantly strengthened at all airports across Bangladesh, including Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, following intelligence warnings of potential attacks by a banned militant group.
Airport and security officials confirmed that enhanced surveillance has been put in place at critical points within major airports, particularly in Dhaka, where monitoring has been intensified across sensitive areas.
The move follows a nationwide alert issued by Bangladesh Police, citing credible intelligence that a banned militant organization may be planning coordinated attacks on key government and state installations. The alert was circulated through an official directive from police headquarters last Thursday.
Officials from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh said the suspected group could attempt to carry out attacks using various methods, raising serious concerns over national security and aviation safety.
In response, CAAB has placed all airports under heightened alert and instructed law enforcement agencies to adopt special security measures. Additional personnel, both in uniform and plainclothes, have been deployed across airport premises.
Security checks have been intensified for passengers and baggage at both arrival and departure terminals. Authorities have also emphasized stronger coordination among intelligence agencies and urged staff to promptly report any suspicious activity.
Officials said all necessary measures have been taken to ensure passenger safety and prevent any disruption to airport operations.
