Iranian Protesters Draw “Red Line” on National Territory Amid Rising Tensions

Despite opposing the government, young Iranians vow to defend sovereignty if foreign ground invasion occurs

Amid escalating tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, anti-government protesters inside Iran are expressing a strong sense of national unity when it comes to defending the country’s territorial integrity.

A 25-year-old protester from Babol in northern Iran, who requested anonymity for security reasons, said he would voluntarily join the regular army if any part of Iran’s land or islands were threatened by foreign forces. “Our country’s territory is a red line,” he stated, emphasizing that political differences should not undermine national sovereignty.

The young activist, who had previously participated in anti-government demonstrations, revealed that he recently received a message encouraging citizens to support national defense efforts. However, he clarified that he would not join the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, citing its role in suppressing past protests. Instead, he expressed willingness to serve in Iran’s conventional military forces.

Iranian authorities have reportedly intensified campaigns to recruit civilians into the armed forces, though it remains unclear how many volunteers have responded so far. Military service is already mandatory for most Iranian men over the age of 18, with limited exemptions.

Despite ongoing internal political divisions, the growing sentiment among Iranian youth highlights a broader trend: in the face of potential foreign intervention, national identity and territorial defense are becoming unifying factors. Analysts suggest this development could further complicate the regional dynamics as tensions continue to rise.
