Tehran — The spokesperson of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), General Ali Mohammad Naini, has been killed in an Israeli airstrike, Iranian state media confirmed.
According to the Tasnim News Agency, the attack took place early Friday. The agency reported the development through its official channels on Telegram and X.
The Israeli military also confirmed the strike, stating that General Naini was killed during an overnight operation targeting sites inside Iran. However, the exact location of the attack and the extent of the damage have not yet been disclosed.
The killing of a senior IRGC official marks a significant escalation in the ongoing hostilities between Iran and Israel. The IRGC is a powerful branch of Iran’s military establishment, playing a central role in both domestic security and regional operations.
The incident comes amid a sharp rise in tensions across the Middle East, with both sides engaged in a series of retaliatory strikes, including attacks on strategic infrastructure and increased military activity in key areas.
