Qatar Blames Israel for Attack on Joint Offshore Gas Field with Iran

Doha warns strike on energy infrastructure threatens global supply and regional stability amid escalating Middle East tensions

Qatar has accused Israel of carrying out an ആക്രമণ on a jointly owned offshore natural gas field shared with Iran, escalating tensions in an already volatile region.

The allegation was made on Wednesday by Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following reports of a strike on the Iranian section of the South Pars Gas Field. The attack reportedly caused a fire in the area, raising concerns over the safety of critical energy infrastructure.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Al-Ansari described the strike as a “dangerous and irresponsible act” amid ongoing military escalation in the Middle East. He emphasized that targeting energy facilities poses a serious threat not only to regional populations and the environment but also to global energy security.

Qatar reiterated its call for all parties to exercise restraint and adhere to international law. The Gulf state also urged efforts to de-escalate tensions and maintain stability in the region.

The incident comes at a time of heightened সংঘাত involving Iran and Israel, with fears growing that continued attacks on strategic infrastructure could further destabilize global energy markets and intensify geopolitical risks.
