Ekhattorer Prohori Foundation to Host ‘Bangabandhu International Book Fair’ in New York

Three-day event on May 15–17 will promote Bangla language, literature, and the ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

The Ekhattorer Prohori Foundation has announced that it will organize the Bangabandhu International Book Fair 2025 in New York City from May 15 to May 17. The three-day event aims to promote Bangla language, literature, and the progressive ideals of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, among the Bangladeshi diaspora and the new generation.

According to a press release issued on March 13, the book fair will focus on spreading the spirit of the Liberation War and highlighting Bangabandhu’s humanistic vision and values.

The opening ceremony will take place on the first day in the afternoon, where writers, journalists, cultural personalities, and distinguished members of the Bangladeshi community are expected to participate. The three-day program will include seminars, symposiums, discussions on Bangabandhu’s ideology, poetry recitations, book launches, unveiling of new publications, musical performances, and cultural programs.

Organizers said the fair will also feature creative events aimed at engaging the younger generation, including discussions on Bangladesh and Bengali national identity.

Guests and participants from North America, Europe, Bangladesh, Kolkata, and several Middle Eastern countries have already expressed interest in attending the event. A number of publishing houses from Bangladesh and India are also expected to participate.

The organizers noted that similar initiatives in North America have been successfully held since 2022, and they have called upon organizations, businesses, and cultural figures from different countries to support and participate in the fair. Book lovers and members of the Bangladeshi community have also been invited to attend the event and make the initiative a success.
