Bangladesh Clinch ODI Series Against Pakistan After Thrilling 11-Run Victory

Bangladesh secured a thrilling 11-run victory over Pakistan in the third and final One Day International (ODI), clinching the three-match series 2-1 in Mirpur on Sunday. The match went down to the final over before Bangladesh’s bowlers held their nerve to seal the series.

Batting first after losing the toss, Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 290 for 5 in 50 overs. The innings was anchored by opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who struck his maiden international century. He scored 107 runs off 107 balls, hitting six fours and seven sixes to lay a strong foundation for the hosts.

Tanzid received good support from Saif Hasan, who made 36, while Liton Das added 41 runs. Towhid Hridoy remained unbeaten on 48 from 44 balls to guide Bangladesh to a challenging total. For Pakistan, Haris Rauf was the most successful bowler, taking three wickets for 52 runs.

Chasing 291, Pakistan suffered an early collapse as Bangladesh’s pace attack removed three wickets for just 17 runs. However, Salman Ali Agha revived Pakistan’s hopes with a fighting century. He scored 106 runs off 98 balls, including nine fours and four sixes.

Despite Salman’s efforts, Pakistan struggled to keep up with the required run rate. In the closing stages, captain Shaheen Afridi tried to spark a comeback with two crucial sixes in the 49th over, briefly raising hopes of an unlikely win.

But Bangladesh maintained composure under pressure. In the final over, spinner Rishad Hossain restricted Pakistan effectively, while Afridi was eventually stumped on the last ball as Pakistan were bowled out for 279.

Taskin Ahmed led the bowling attack for Bangladesh with four wickets for 49 runs, while Mustafizur Rahman claimed three wickets for 54 runs. Nahid Rana took two wickets and Rishad Hossain picked up one.

Tanzid Hasan was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series for his outstanding performance. The victory marked Bangladesh’s first ODI series win over Pakistan since their historic whitewash in 2015.
