United Arab Emirates — A fire broke out at an oil facility in the emirate of Fujairah early Monday following an attack, authorities confirmed.
Officials said the incident occurred in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, a major energy storage and export hub in the country. Emergency teams quickly responded to the site and managed to bring the fire under control.
Authorities did not immediately provide details about casualties or the extent of the damage, but said the situation was now contained.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates announced Monday morning that it had activated its air defense systems to intercept missiles launched from Iran.
The development comes amid rising tensions across the Middle East following escalating military confrontations involving Iran and its regional adversaries.
Fujairah, located on the eastern coast of the UAE along the Gulf of Oman, is considered one of the region’s most important oil storage and shipping hubs. Any disruption there could have broader implications for global energy markets as the conflict continues to intensify.
