China Calls for Security and Stability in the Strait of Hormuz

Beijing urges all parties to halt military activities as tensions threaten global energy trade routes

Beijing — China has emphasized the urgent need to maintain security and stability in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most vital maritime routes for global trade and energy transportation.

Speaking at a regular press briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said the Strait of Hormuz and its surrounding waters are crucial for the transportation of goods and energy resources such as oil and gas worldwide.
She noted that reports of military tensions disrupting shipping in the area are a matter of serious concern.

“Maintaining peace and stability in this region is not only the responsibility of one country but is closely linked to the economic interests of all nations,” Mao said.
China called on all relevant parties to immediately halt military activities and work to de-escalate tensions in the region.

The spokesperson also stressed that responsible behavior from all sides is essential to prevent further escalation and to ensure that regional instability does not negatively affect global economic development.

The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, serves as a strategic chokepoint for global oil shipments and plays a critical role in international energy markets.
