Donald Trump has warned that a “devastating strike” could be launched against Iran if the country does not surrender immediately, raising fears of further escalation in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Saturday, Trump said the United States is considering targeting locations and individuals that had not previously been on Washington’s strike list.
He wrote that due to what he described as Iran’s “extreme arrogance and bad behavior,” the U.S. is seriously considering attacks that could lead to the “complete destruction” of certain areas and groups.
Trump also claimed that Iran is no longer a dominant power in the Middle East but has instead become a defeated force in the region. He added that unless Iran surrenders or collapses completely, the country could carry the “shame of defeat” for decades.
Referring to a recent video message from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Trump argued that Tehran is now showing signs of backing down due to continuous strikes by the United States and Israel.
According to Trump, Iran has already apologized to neighboring countries and promised not to carry out further attacks, a move he said came as a result of sustained military pressure from Washington and its allies.
Earlier in the day, President Pezeshkian said in a speech that Iran would not attack neighboring countries as long as their territories were not used to launch strikes against Iran.
The developments come amid rising tensions and ongoing military exchanges involving Iran, Israel, and their allies across the Middle East.
