Allegations Surface Against Local Coordinator in Cox’s Bazar Over Exploitation Claims

Viral video shows woman accusing ‘Zinia’ of coercion and links to senior tourist police officer; no official response yet

Cox’s Bazar — A video circulating on social media has sparked widespread controversy in Cox’s Bazar, with a young woman alleging that a local coordinator known as Zinia lured her into hotels and forced her into immoral activities.

In the viral video statement, the woman, identifying herself as Laila, claims she was deceived and taken to various hotels in the coastal district under false pretenses. She alleges that Zinia, described as a coordinator affiliated with a political platform, sent her to a senior official of the Cox’s Bazar Tourist Police, Additional Deputy Inspector General Apel Mahmud.

According to the woman’s account, she was allegedly made to consume intoxicating substances beforehand and kept in an impaired state. She further claimed that her husband was also involved in the alleged scheme. The woman said she would often wake up the next morning realizing that events had occurred without her knowledge or consent.

The video has prompted intense discussion among local journalists, political activists, and residents. Many social media users have called for a transparent and impartial investigation into the allegations.

Separate Video Raises Further Questions
In a separate development, another video circulating online appears to show Zinia shopping at a mall in Chattogram with an individual identified by locals as Shah Azam, an alleged drug trader from Teknaf.

Local sources claim that purchases were made using a bank card belonging to the man. After shopping, the two were reportedly seen leaving in a luxury vehicle. Shah Azam has previously been described in local reports as a listed drug suspect and is said to have recently announced his affiliation with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

As of now, no official statements have been issued by the accused coordinator, the named police official, or other individuals mentioned in the allegations. Authorities have also not publicly confirmed whether any formal investigation has been launched.
The authenticity of the viral videos and the claims made therein could not be independently verified at the time of reporting.
