Israel Launches Massive Retaliatory Strikes After Rockets Fired from Lebanon

Hezbollah claims responsibility for early morning attack on Haifa, citing defense of Lebanon and killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader

Israel has launched extensive retaliatory airstrikes following rocket attacks fired from Lebanon early Monday morning.
The powerful Lebanese armed group Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the rocket fire, saying the attack targeted the Israeli city of Haifa.

The group stated that the strike was carried out in defense of the Lebanese people and in response to the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Following the rocket barrage, the Israeli Air Force began large-scale air operations along Lebanon’s border areas. Security sources reported that airstrikes also hit several locations in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

Although Israel and the United States carried out strikes inside Iran on Saturday, Hezbollah had not immediately responded. However, in the early hours of Monday, the group launched its attack, prompting swift retaliation from Israeli forces.

The escalation marks a significant widening of hostilities in the region, raising fears of a broader confrontation involving Israel, Lebanon, and Iran.
