Panna Labels Dr. Yunus ‘Biggest Rajakar,’ Demands Name in Textbooks

YouTube commentator calls interim chief adviser a “traitor and looter,” urges global campaign against him

Journalist and political commentator Manjurul Alam Panna has described Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser of the interim government, as the “principal enemy and biggest traitor” in Bangladesh’s 55-year history, demanding that his name be included in school textbooks as the “biggest Rajakar and looter.”

In a recent statement, Panna sharply criticized Dr. Yunus, saying, “In 55 years of our history, this individual is the principal enemy of our soil, our people, and our Liberation War. In the post-independence period, he is the biggest traitor and Rajakar. I demand that his name be included in textbooks as the biggest Rajakar and looter.”

He also called for building global public opinion against Dr. Yunus, urging what he described as the “unmasking” of the Nobel laureate before the international community. “It is our responsibility to expose him to the whole world,” Panna said, adding that “some Rajakar offspring find it hard to match him.”

Panna runs a YouTube channel titled Manchitra and regularly participates in political talk shows as a commentator. Since the fall of the Awami League government in August last year following a mass uprising, he has been a vocal critic of the interim administration and its policies, particularly those led by Dr. Yunus.

In late August last year, Panna and several other journalists were arrested on allegations related to expressing opinions and criticizing the government. Human rights organizations at the time expressed concern over the arrests. He was later released on bail through legal procedures.

Following his release, Panna has continued to speak out against the current government, especially targeting Dr. Yunus’ leadership and policy decisions. His recent remarks have sparked renewed debate across social media platforms.
