Trump Says Talks With Iran Were “Very Good”

Indirect negotiations held in Oman amid rising US military presence and fresh sanctions on Tehran

US President Donald Trump has said that discussions with Iran were “very good” following indirect talks between representatives of the two countries in Muscat, the capital of Oman.
The talks took place on Friday (February 6) and were aimed at preventing further escalation of tensions in the Middle East, where the United States has recently deployed significant military assets.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said Iran appeared eager to reach an agreement. “We’ve had very good discussions on Iran,” he said. “It looks like Iran is desperate to make a deal. We’re going to meet again next week.”
Sanctions Imposed During Talks
Despite the ongoing dialogue, Trump signed an executive order imposing new punitive measures against Iran during the negotiations. Under the order, the United States will impose secondary tariffs on goods from countries that continue to purchase products from Iran.
The move underscores Washington’s continued pressure on Tehran, even as diplomatic channels remain open.
According to The Times of Israel, the discussions focused on reducing tensions and preventing further deterioration in US-Iran relations.
