Police Block ‘March to Indian High Commission’ Protest in Dhaka

Demonstrators under the banner of ‘July Unity’ were stopped at a barricade in North Badda, disrupting traffic as protesters staged an on-site rally.

A protest march titled “March to the Indian High Commission,” called by a platform named ‘July Unity,’ was halted by police in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The demonstrators began marching toward the Indian High Commission at around 3:30 pm, but police stopped them by setting up barricades in the North Badda area. Prevented from moving forward, the protesters remained at the spot and delivered speeches.

Earlier in the day, protesters had started gathering in the Rampura Bridge area from noon ahead of the planned march. Participants joined the demonstration from different parts of the city, carrying banners and placards.

As protesters occupied the roadway, traffic movement in the area was disrupted, causing inconvenience to commuters.
