France’s Interior Ministry fell victim to a cyberattack earlier this week, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez confirmed on Friday (12 December).
Speaking to RTL Radio, Nuñez said attackers managed to gain access to “several files” within the ministry’s email server. However, he emphasized that no proof has yet emerged to suggest significant damage to the system or its contents.
Authorities have not identified the source of the cyberattack, but an investigation is underway, according to the minister.
Nuñez added that the ministry has adopted enhanced security measures, including stricter access protocols for officials using the ministry’s internal computer systems.
