Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the people of Bangladesh to unite beyond political divisions and come forward to safeguard democracy. In an audio message released yesterday, she said the current situation demands national unity and collective resistance against forces attempting to destabilize the country.
The Prime Minister alleged that Muhammad Yunus is working to dismantle the country’s economy and cultural values, while facilitating the rise of extremism. She said, “His polished words and manufactured image may have fooled many, but now the truth is exposed. A false reputation never lasts.”
She stated that Yunus never came to power through democratic mandate and claimed he seized control through violence.
“He never had the people’s vote and never will,” she asserted. “He has taken power through bloodshed, intimidation, and force.”
Referring to recent reports of missing police, journalists, and civilians, the Prime Minister questioned the silence surrounding human rights violations:
“Where are the human rights defenders now? So many people have vanished — their families are still waiting. Isn’t this a violation of human rights?”
Her message has intensified national debate amid the current political climate, drawing reactions from various sectors of society.
