US President Donald Trump “remains in excellent overall health” after undergoing a preventative MRI, according to a memo released by White House physician Captain Sean Barbabella. The advanced imaging of Trump’s heart and abdomen, conducted in October during a routine executive physical, returned “perfectly normal” results.
Barbabella stated that the scan showed no signs of arterial narrowing, blood-flow impairment, or abnormalities in the president’s heart or major vessels. The abdominal imaging also showed that all evaluated organs were functioning within normal limits, with no acute or chronic concerns.
The White House released the findings following growing pressure from Democrats, including Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who sought clarity over the president’s health in the wake of concerns about his age as he continues his second term.
Speaking aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump said he had “no issue” with releasing the MRI details. When asked which body part was scanned, he responded jokingly that it was not his brain, noting he had “aced” a cognitive test.
Trump previously said in October that the MRI conducted at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center was “perfect.”
The president has recently been observed with swollen ankles and bruising on his right hand. In July, the White House confirmed he had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition that can cause leg swelling.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the memo provided “significant detail” in the interest of transparency, fulfilling Trump’s pledge to release the results.
